Rosebery Road, Brixton

Counterbalance has been commissioned by the property owner to design the extension and renovation of their period ground floor property. The project involves adding an additional bedroom to their one-bedroom apartment in Brixton Hill, London, while maintaining separate living, dining, and kitchen spaces through a ground-floor rear and side extension. The proposal also aims to improve circulation space and increase built-in storage.

Currently under construction, the project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2024.

Our Design
Approach

Currently under construction, the project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2024. The proposed single-storey rear and side extension will not only add an additional bedroom and floor space but also enhance the overall quality and layout of the apartment. This extension will create a better connection with the existing garden, which is now accessed directly from the kitchen.

Additional work includes various internal layout alterations, such as relocating the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom, and creating a new bedroom/study. The central external courtyard allows for an additional bedroom while maintaining a large window to bring daylight directly into the center of the plan.
