Established in 2021 by architect Gareth Price, in Greenwich London, Counterbalance builds on over a decade of experience designing well-conceived and thoughtfully-detailed residential architecture.
The name of the studio represents the belief that successful projects are achieved when all parties involved equally benefit from the process: balancing all interests to an optimal point of equilibrium, where homes are built sustainably, procured quickly, built to a high quality, and tailored to meet our client's budget and programme.

Architect & Project Manager
The cost of architectural services can vary based on a range of factors, and while it may be tempting to go with the cheapest option, it is important to consider the long-term value of your property and the importance of investing in good quality design.
Our unique architect and project manager service will help guide your project from concept design to completion as we are able to identify potential issues and find solutions more efficiently, saving time and money in the long run, adding value to your property and making life easier for yourself by leaving all aspects of your project to Counterbalance.
We work alongside our network of experts, engineers and craftspeople so you don’t have to worry about finding a builder or hiring individual trades. You invest your time in the enjoyable design process whilst we manage the project budget and scope throughout the process, resulting in a high-quality build that reflects your needs, personality, financial and time frame goals.
Starting A Project / Project Workshop
Every project starts with a conversation to answer any questions you may have and to understand how we can best support your project.

Give us a call or email, and we will reply by email with initial thoughts and advice, and a link to book in a chat/video call (free of charge) or Project Workshop at your property/site if we can help further. (£150 - No VAT ) - Within 30 miles of Greenwich.

At our two-hour Project Workshop session, we will offer insights into the process, straightforward advice, and walk through your property or site to explore its possibilities. During the session, we will discuss the following:

Design Team - other consultants or surveys that may be required, and when.

Approvals - local authority and certification.

Timeline and the process for your project.

Fees / Packages
We typically divide our fees into three packages of work. Our clients find this is the most helpful way to procure our services.

These are based on our industry standard appointment, RIBA Domestic or Standard Professional Services Contract 2020, specifically designed for architectural services on commercial or domestic projects. This comprehensive digital contract ensures clarity and protection for both parties, detailing costs, duties, and responsibilities.

It offers flexibility to pause or cancel services, as well as expand or reduce the scope of work as needed. Our packages are aligned with the work stages outlined in this document, ensuring a seamless and efficient project experience.
