Fairyhill, Woking
Counterbalance has been commissioned by the owners to project manage the redesign and extension of their four-bedroom detached family house in Woking, Surrey. The goal is to maximize the space within their home as their family grows while ensuring that the renovations add value to the property.

We successfully managed the planning process and obtained permission to extend the property to the side and rear, along with adding a second-floor loft extension. This was achieved through a planning householder application, which was approved without any objections from neighbors.
Currently, the project is being tendered to local builders, with the client's intention to commence construction in late 2024.
Our Design
Approach
The design process involved exploring various options for reconfiguring the ground floor to create a larger kitchen and dining room while maintaining a separate front living room and WC. Adding a rear ground-floor extension has resulted in a more functional kitchen and improved the connection between the kitchen, dining area, and garden space.

Constructing a small side extension has enhanced the overall circulation space, added a utility room (for washing, drying, and housing the boiler), and improved storage.

Reconfiguring the first-floor layout allowed for the creation of an en-suite for the second bedroom while retaining four bedrooms. Additionally, extending into the loft space provided a fifth primary bedroom with an en-suite.

Throughout this process, we have assisted the client with the layout and interior design of all floors, including the selection of materials and built-in furniture, as well as the design of the kitchen, bathrooms, and en-suites.
